Rose Water I Spell

Rose Water is water that has been infused with the magickal energies of roses. It will add a magickal boost to any spell that calls for water.

You can easily craft your own Rose Water with the following spell. If you need stronger magick, use the more potent brewed Rose Water II.

The colour of the petals used determines the magickal properties of your Rose Water, as described below, so the Rose Water you choose to use should be based on your desired outcome.

  Spell Tips:

• It is important to use non-dyed organic culinary-grade rose petals, which are grown without pesticides or other chemicals, especially if your Rose Water will be ingested, applied to skin, or used in a magickal bath.
• It is equally important to use distilled water as it is contaminant-free which will keep your Rose Water fresh longer.
• For an added magickal boost, use roses that you’ve grown organically yourself.

  Tools & Ingredients:

• 1 cup fresh or 1/3 cup dried organic culinary-grade rose petals
• 2 cups of distilled water plus extra for washing if using fresh rose petals
• 1 tablespoon of good quality vodka (optional)
• a saucepan with a lid
• a wooden spoon
• a clean glass jar or bottle with a tight-fitting lid or stopper

  The Spell:

1. If using fresh rose petals, go through them and remove any slimy petals and then wash them thoroughly with the extra distilled water.
2. Bring 2 cups of distilled water to a boil in the saucepan and then remove from heat.
3. Add the rose petals, pushing them under the water with a wooden spoon.
4. Cover the pot and allow the petals to steep in the water until it cools down, occasionally pushing the petals beneath the water’s surface with the spoon.
5. Pour the water through a cheesecloth or strainer to into the jar or bottle to remove the rose petals.
6. If you’re not using your Rose Water in a spell right away, add the optional vodka as a stabilizer to keep it fresh for up to 3 weeks in the refrigerator.
